Each year, more than 50,000 products are prescribed via presciptions issued using EPha.ch. In addition to the prescription, pharmacists and dispensing doctors can create a dosage card. The dosage card can include a simple explanation of the actions and normal administration of the medication, next to an image of the dosage form. The card will also display a QR-code for patient access to a short film. This film includes an explanation of the intended effects, unwanted side-effects and the usual method of administration, using patient-suitable terminology. The film contents have been composed by clinical pharmacologists. The doctor or pharmacist can determine, which patients these films are made available to.

With the use of the QR-code, a smartphone and an installed QR-reader, the film can be viewed by the patient. The film assists the patients' understanding of and compliance with treatment. EPha.ch continues to pursue the goal of promoting patient safety.
